Out of the Bomb Shelter: Why is it Faux Pas to Wear White After Labour Day?

Labour Day is the day we pay tribute to the working man or woman. But why can’t we wear white right after?

Truth be told, we do not really know---however, there are two common reasons...



1. With the onset of winter, white shoes was not the color of choice as it was too cold and easy to get dirty. This belief eventually extended to include the whole bodice.

2. High society established this etiquette to distinguish themselves from the newly rich---ie. those people who worked their way up the social ladder.

Whatever the reason, focus on celebrating our freedom to eight hours of work, eight hours of rest, and eight hours of play---in whatever color you choose!
